The Athens
District Chamber of Commerce is deeply involved in events in the
Athens area. The following is an example of how the Chamber helps
the Athens community businesses.

People dressed up for the annual Cornfest Parade
- Puts on events such
as Cornfest
- Hires a summer student for the Tourist Information Center. Volunteers
look after Tourist Information when the summer student is not
available.
- Maintains the flowers on Main Street and helps Communities in
Bloom
- Works with Athens District High School to have the village garbage
cans painted and to have flowers planted at the Village limits.
- Makes donations to the annual Christmas Parade, various school
events as well as to other non-profit groups in the area.
- Sends a "Welcome" floral arrangement to new businesses
starting in the Athens area.
- Arranged for printing of post cards of the murals to be sold
by local merchants.
- Produces and helps pay for the annual Athens Tourist Guide and
manages the Tourism Bureau.
- Hosts an annual dinner featuring a guest speaker and announcing
the Citizen of the Year.
- Works with Pineview Public School and A.D.H.S. to decorate the
village at Christmas time.
- Supports the
Athens Christmas Parade Committee annual "Parade of Lights"
held at night, which was a great success.
- Advertising for the members of the Chamber and the village.
- Provides Group benefits (health, dental, life, etc.) for groups
as small as one individual.
