Welcome to the Athens District Chamber of Commerce, servicing the Township of Athens, Charleston Lake and area. The goal of the Athens District Chamber of Commerce is,

"To promote, support and expand local business while encouraging a
spirit of community in Athens and District"

The Village of Athens, population 1000 is located just thirty minutes north-west of Brockville. Our small tourist town is famous for its large outdoor murals. The murals represent our pride in our community, and our history. Enjoy our warm hospitality while touring the peaceful, historical Village of Athens, with its splendid mix of stately homes, historical buildings and unique murals.

Cornfest, a charming one-day festival celebrating the delightful sweetness of corn and catering primarily to children is hosted annually by the Chamber on the 3rd Saturday of August. The Village is decorated with corn and is a veritable hive of activity including a children’s parade, live music all day long, kid’s games, a petting zoo, corn cooked by a gigantic steam engine, craft and food vendors, scavenger hunt, and many more fun-filled activities. Most events are free or low cost and a relaxing, enjoyable day is guaranteed for the whole family.

Proceeds from our many fund raising events fund many Chamber projects: Citizen of the Year, Organization of the Year, assisting with the annual Christmas Parade of Lights held in the evening of the first Saturday in December, decorating the town for the Yuletide Season. Over the years, the Chamber has supplied and maintained floral displays on Main Street and a local student is employed each summer as a tourist ambassador to assist and greet visitors to Athens. The Chamber also financially assists with Canada Day fireworks at Charleston and presents an annual award at ADHS commencement, supports Communities in Bloom project.

Primarily, however, the Chamber supports existing business and seeks out new business as well as encouraging the residents to promote and take pride in their homes, township and heritage.
