A Quick History of Weapons of Mass Destruction

Weapons of mass destruction have been around for many years. Even in ancient times there were biological attacks when armies contaminated a city's water supply. They are classified as either Biological, Chemical, or Nuclear and different levels of destruction. Despite these differences they all have the same main purpose; destruction of a large number of human beings.

Canada does not have weapons of mass destruction, but we do need to protect ourselves from them. Canada has taken steps to protect the public from such weapons. Through its diplomatic dealings in the UN and with countries around the world, Canada is continuing its stance against weapons of mass destruction.

In our interview with Joe Jordan, we discussed weapons of mass destruction.

"Weapons of mass destruction, my understanding of them, are usually defined as nuclear weapons, biological and chemical. It's my understanding that Canada doesn't have any. It's against the UN conventions that we signed. So we don't manufacture them, we don't store them."
