Noreen Mallory

The minute Noreen Mallory found out that Athens was going to display murals, she wanted to paint one. In love with the Eastern Ontario region of Charleston Lake; near Athens, she felt it was only suiting to paint a mural about that area.

The popular "Charleston Lake Picnic" Mural was a two month project for Noreen. Although she did recieve some assistance from her Son John A.M. Hood, who also has a mural in Athens.

Mrs. Mallory grew up in the nearby town of Brockville and attended public school there. Later in her life she received her degree at the Ontario College of Art, and has worked at a number of schools including Condordia University, and Winchester School of Art in England.

Presently working out of a nearby art studio, near her home in Montreal, Quebec, Noreen produces monotypes and monoprints, which are one of a kind paintings on paper made by a press.

Painting off and on all of her life Noreen Mallory has contributed murals to Scarborough, Cliffside Village, and designed a mural at St. Lawrence College in Brockville, working with art students.

Noreen Mallory's contribution to Athens has been greatly appreciated, and will be looked at for many years to come.
