One of John A.M. Hood's successes of his 20 year career is the popular "Bandstand" mural. "Bandstand" took Mr. Hood about 40 days to complete. After being rejected his first time to paint a mural John tried again the year after and was chosen by a panel of judges to paint one of Athens' fine walls.
This popular artist grew up in Montreal and later moved to Toronto where he attended Marymount High School. After a successful tenur of secondary education John recieved his B.A. of Fine Arts at the University of Concordia.
John Hood works out of his home in Toronto, Ontario. When he's not painting murals, John works with easel painting using acrylic and water colours.
Athens is not the only town Mr. Hood has left his mark. Fourteen other murals have been painted across Ontario, including several in Welland, Windsor, Toronto, and on e in nearby Brockville.
Influences being widely varied, ranging from Renaissance
to Modern, John's success has been due to hardwork and dedication.
