MUsic InflUENCES Positive and Negative - Movies - Music - Fashion - Celebrities
Music is on of the most influential items in pop culture today. Like many items music can influence us both positively and negatively. On fortunately it seems in the year 2002 the negative musicians are out weighing the positive ones. The reason I think music is so influential is because music can be heard world wide by cd, radio, and now a days even mp3's. No matter what part of the world you are from there is some form of music. So as you can see music does effect us all in some way.
Don't get me wrong there are some positive musicians out there such as Lauren Hill, Creed, U2, and Outkast. However I think the music industry should try to promote more positive musicians. It's nice hearing musicians sing about stuff other then money, sex, and drugs. In the years past, a lot of the positive musicians like U2 have been the big award winners at the Grammys. So that must say something about positive music in pop culture. Music is more then just lyrics; it's a style. A good musician has their own style and technique. It is very important to create a positive style. A positive style would include, being original and dressing appropriate.
Just like there are some positive musicians, there are some negative musicians. Musicians that would fall into this category would include, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Marilyn Manson, and Disturbed. In this area of music it seems the negative musicians out weigh the positive musicians. I don't have a problem with the lyrics or even the artists that sing these songs, but I can see why many people do. I can understand why a lot of parents wouldn't want their children listening to music about using drugs, or killing people. Although it is only music to many of us it is an escape for some. I know music doesn't make you do drugs or kill people, but when musicians promote drug use it doesn't act as deterrent either. Many of these musicians are making millions of dollars so you would think they could come up with some songs that don't revolve around drugs, sex, and money.
