Suicide Survey
Links

The better part of our survey is knowledge questions. As we didn't make up the answers to these questions, it's obvious much research was needed. We acquired our the correct answers and other background information from the following pages:

The Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Project hosts a Teen section and a Parent section. The teen page provides links, life skills, stories, advice, warning signs and much more. The parent part includes extras like resources and FAQ's If one needs help, there are many contacts (help lines, etc.) posted about this site. This site didn't provide the statistics we were looking for, but it did give us some teen perspective.

NAMI hosts a very useful page meant to educate people about suicide so they can help prevent it. There is information regarding; warning signs, strategies and advice for those trying to prevent suicide, high risk types and the misconceptions. The latter being extremely useful, considering we created this survey to show the truths of suicide.

Suicide - Learn more, Learn to Help: www.nami.org/helpline/suicide.htm

This site branches into two sister sites - one about suicide prevention and one with suicide information. We used the Suicide FAQ on the information site. However, the FAQ statistics are Canadian, therefore, this part of the site might not be useful to other nations.

This site by the American Academy of Pediatrics talks specifically about the prevention of teen suicide and gives some important facts that everyone should know such as warning signs and things you can do to help someone who might be suicidal. It also branches off to another page with links to some other research the group has done on suicide.

This site by the National Mental Health Association gives some very disturbing facts on teen suicide. It also has some addresses that you can write to for more information or send money if you want to help with their research.

National Mental Health Association: http://www.nmha.org/infoctr/factsheets/82.cfm

This site which has an association with Unicef has Deaths by suicide and self-inflicted injury per 100,000 for many different countries. This site is helpful but it's from 1996 so it might be a little outdated.

Youth Suicide League: http://www.unicef.org/pon96/insuicid.htm

This is our school web-site dealing with suicide and pregnancy. This site goes over suicide symptoms, situational factors, ways to deal and those that can help. This site has lots of pictures and is presented in story-format.
