Halogen Substitution Groups 
The group seven elements, the halogens, are very reactive. They will, if given the chance, displace H from the carbon chain and take its place. When in place they take on special prefix names; fluorine becomes fluoro, chlorine becomes chloro, bromine becomes bromo and iodine becomes iodo.

Dupont and Anachem were the leading manufacturers of a special class of halocarbon compounds called Freon's. A partial list follows and you should try drawing two or three of them to get familiar with them.
