Problems You Should Be Able to Solve
• Draw structural diagrams of alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes
• Write combustion and addition reactions of hydrocarbons
• Name and draw alcohols

Make  A Summary
a)   If you have not done so already, prepare a large index card for each organic family.
On the front of each card:
•   write the name and genreal formula of the organic family
•   give an example, including an IUPAC name, common name and structural formula
On the back of the card
•    list the charactersitic properties, such as relative boiling points and solubility in polar and non-polar solvents
•    name the charactersitic functional groups
•    list the types of intermolecular forces

b)   Arrange your index cards in differtnet sequences or groupings: for exmaple by general trend of increasing boiling points or increasing solubilty in polar solvents; by functional groups; by presence of absence of oxygen atoms; or by reaction type.
